What is EIF?

Education is Freedom (EIF) was founded in 2002 on the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity for a college education.  Providing students with a roadmap to complete high school and gain access to college,  EIF impacts the academic success of urban youth through a comprehensive school-based program. EIF focuses on academic standards, including personal guidance, professional development, SAT/ACT and college preparation, mentoring, scholarship assistance and academic achievement incentives.

Core Components of EIF

  • Higher Education Advising – Full time, on-campus individuals to provide customized college guidance
  • EIF: G3 (Get Ready. Get Set. Go to College) – Personal development and skill-building workshops
  • Scholarship Partnerships – University and external scholarship partners offering college tuition assistance for EIF students
  • Academic Celebrations – Recognizes students’ academic achievements
  • Mentoring – by EIF staff and volunteers
  • Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program – Paid summer internships with Dallas’s top companies and organizations.
  • Middle School Champions of Change (MC2) – Encourages and rewards academic excellence among 6th, 7th, and 8th graders
  • Parent Outreach - Educating and involving parents and guardians in the college process.
  • College Entry Prep – Interactive sessions to complete essential enrollment processes
  • College Integration – Exclusive opportunities to engage with the higher education community
