EIF Eligibility RequirementsWho is eligible to participate? Am I eligible to participate? Open enrollment is the hallmark of the Education is Freedom program. If you are in middle school or a freshmen or sophomore in high school at one of our participating schools in the Dallas Independent School District, you are eligible to enroll.

What are the participation requirements? To participate in Education is Freedom, students are required to:
- Complete the recommended state high school curriculum as outlined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board;
- Earn and maintain an 80 cumulative average or better by the second semester if the junior year in high school;
- Enroll in pre-AP and AP courses;
- Graduate with a high school diploma;
- Attend G3 life skills classes;
- Work one-on-one with their Higher Education Advisor to craft a college plan;
- Sophomores must take the PSAT, while juniors and seniors are required to take the SAT and/or ACT;
- Parents are also required to attend a minimum of two EIF workshops per year, including an EIF sponsored FAFSA/TASFA Financial Aid Workshop in the spring semester

In their senior year, EIF students are recommended to:
- Apply to a minimum of four accredited colleges/universities as well as DCCCD;
- Attend college fairs/workshops when offered
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for State FInancial Aid (TASFA) by March 1st
- Register to take the SAT and/or ACT by October 31st of their senior year
- Apply for the Rising Star Scholarship (DCCCD), and at least three additional qualified scholarships
