The Class of 2011 Stats

Out of the 2,400 seniors:

  • 94% graduated from high school
  • 99% applied for college
  • 93% were accepted to college
  • 88% applied for financial aid
  • 65% applied for external scholarships
  • $7.7 million in grants, loans and work-study was awarded
  • $5.6 million in public, private and institutional scholarships was offered
  • Colleges attended include Georgetown, MIT, Rice, Howard University, Cornell University, Stanford University,  University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, University of North Texas, University of North Texas at Dallas, Texas A&M University-Commerce, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, Jarvis Christian College, and Dallas County Community College District, among many others. 





The School Effect

EIF is building a college-going culture not just among its EIF students but throughout the district as well.

 

Compared to Non-EIF Students in the 2009-2010 school year...

  • EIF students had higher GPAs
  • EIF students had greater school attendance
  • EIF students took the SAT/ACT at higher rates
  • EIF students took more AP classes
  • EIF students were more likely to meet subject-specific TAKS standards





2010-2011 Highlights

  • EIF served about 6,700 high school students and 4,800 middle school students in Dallas ISD.
  • About 59 interns and 38 companies participated in the 2010-2011 Mayor's Intern Fellows program.
  • Over  2,500 parents and students attended  52 EIF-sponsored parent  event sessions.
  • About 4,400 high school students attended monthly personal development and life skill building workshops .
  • EIF organized and/or assisted in at least 60 college visits that exposed close to 1,000 students to various colleges.
  • EIF sealed a new partnership with Jarvis Christian College in 2010-2011, in addition to ongoing official partnerships with University of Texas at Austin, University of North Texas, University of North Texas at Dallas and  Texas A&M University-Commerce. 
  • University partners have dedicated over $12 million in exclusive, merit-based scholarships to EIF students.
